SAMYAK SVEDALAKṢAṆAS

शीतशूलव्युपरमेस्तम्भगौरवनिग्रहे| सञ्जातेमार्दवेस्वेदेस्वेदनाद्विरतिर्मता[i] |      (Cha. Su. 14/13)

 

  • ŚītaUparama(reduction of cold)
  • ŚūlaUparama(reduction of pain)
  • StambhaNigraha(reduction of stiffness)
  • GauravaNigraha(reduction of heaviness)
  • Mārdava (softness of body)

ASVEDALAKSAṆAS

IftheSvedanaperformedisnotsufficientorproper, thentheLakṣaṇasopposite to theSamyakSvinnaLakṣaṇasoccurieSvedaApravṛtti, StambhaApraśama,ŚītaApraśama, ŚūlaApraśama. Ḍalhaṇaaddsthatheavinessofthe body, Uṣṇābhilāṣa,Vyādhivridhiandhardnessofthe body occur.

वातस्यअप्रगुनत्वंचगुरुत्वंस्तब्धगात्रता।

मन्दस्विन्नेनचग्लानितृष्णादीनांचविभ्रमः॥                           (kas. Sam.)

Improper Anulomanaof Vāta, heaviness of body, stiffness throughout the body, increase in the thirst and weakness are the AyogaLakṣaṇa

संधिपीडाज्वरःश्यावरक्तमण्डलदर्शनम्

  • Pitta and RaktaPrakopa(increase in raktaamd pitta)
  • Tṛṣṇā (excesive thirst)
  • Mūrccha (unconsciousness)
  • Svarasāda (weakness of voice
  • Aṅgsāda (weakness of body)
  • Bhrama (giddiness)
  • Sandhi Pīḍā(pain in joints)
  • Jvara (fever)
  • ŚyāvaRaktaMaṇḍalaDarśana(multiple eruptions all over the body)
  • Chardi(vomiting)

 

ĀcāryaCaraka included Dāha(burning sensation) and ĀcāryaSuśrutamentionedKlama(tiredness) in AtiSvedaLakṣaṇa

SVEDA VYĀPAT AND MANAGEMENT

पित्तास्रकोपतृण्मूर्च्छास्वराङ्गसदनभ्रमाः|
सन्धिपीडाज्वरःश्यावरक्तमण्डलदर्शनम्||
स्वेदातियोगाच्छर्दिश्चतत्रस्तम्भनमौषधम्|
विषक्षाराग्न्यतीसारच्छर्दिमोहातुरेषुच||

Increase in Pitta, Rakta, Mūrchā, Svarasāda, Aṅgsāda, Bhrama,Sandhi Pida, Jvara, ŚyāvaRaktaMaṇḍala Darshana (multiple eruptions all over the body) and Chardi.

 

Stambhana is the best line of treatment in complications. And also to be given the treatment of the complications caused by Viṣa, Kṣāra,Agni and from diarrhoea, vomiting and fainting.

StaṃbanaCikitsā, GrīṣmaṚtucaryāVidhiPālanā, Rakta-Pitta NaśakaCikitsa,Madhura, Sīta, Drava, SnigdhaBhōjanaandPāna, SītaMaṅtha, SritaSītajalaPāna, Candanalepa, ṢatadhoutaGhṛtaLēpa, SītagrahaVāsa.

Cold water sprinkling on face, DrākṣādiKaṣāya can begivenincase of Mūrchā. In excessive Dāha, management of dehydrationshouldbedone. Incase of Sphoṭaor Vraṇa, application of JātyādiTaila, ShatadhaḥutaGhṛtashouldbeapplied.
